Coronado Schools Foundation Proud to Present
“Live from Coronado, It’s Telethon Night!” on March 28

CORONADO – February 21 -- The 19th Annual Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon, presented by Time Warner Cable, will be held live from Village Hall at Village Elementary on Wednesday, March 28, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. “The money raised from this Telethon is vital for our schools to continue to meet the highest academic standards and provide a quality public school education equivalent to that of many private schools for the children of this community,” said Toni Aden, foundation president. “With the possibility of up to $339,000 in Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) budget cuts to be implemented for the next school year, it is imperative that we look to both parents and the community for their much needed financial support.”

Libby Patrick’s class participated in last year’s Coronado Schools Foundation telethon.  This year’s will be held on Wednesday, March 28.

This year’s event features 50 Years of Music provided by students and teachers from all CUSD schools as well as some “celebrity” guests. “Proceeds from this Telethon, the second of the foundation’s two major annual benefit events, will provide funding for essential school programs and supplies, continue to provide for Technology Resource Teachers (TRT) at each school campus, and other priority needs from the five campuses,” commented Sue Shirey, Telethon chair.

The foundation was formed in 1982 as the community’s shared cause and fundraising vehicle to ensure continued academic excellence for Coronado’s public school students. The Telethon will feature over 500 students from K-12 grades, performing during four hours of uninterrupted time. Over 250 community volunteers – including the foundation board, Coronado High School student hosts and Class of 2007 parents and students, over 50 community leaders on the phone banks, teachers, the production team and more -- work countless hours to ensure the success of this important event in this community of 26,000.
