Posted 4 months, 4 weeks ago

Save the Date for Thursday, March 14th to see this year’s Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon live from the Coronado High School Performing Art Center.

COME ON DOWN to the Coronado High School Theater and Quad on March 14th where Coronado Schools Foundation is #InItToWinIt to raise much needed funds for 2019-20 School Site Program Grants. This year’s 31st annual Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon is going to be the best yet featuring a new Game Show theme and fresh format. Acts include The Not-So-Newly Wed Game, Wheel of Fortunes, The Price is Almost Right, Triton Trivia and Islander Feud where students and staff will compete LIVE in the Coronado High School Performing Arts Center.

Local celebrity game show hosts include Mayor Richard Bailey; CUSD Superintendent, Karl Mueller; High School Teacher, Trivia Guru, Casey Tanaka; New York Times bestselling Author and TV Host, Melissa d’Arabian, and CMG Mortgage Branch Manager, Kory Kavanewsky. Joining them on stage this year will be TV Personality, Actress, Journalist and Founder of Latina.MOM, Tania Luviano, as the master of ceremonies. They will welcome CSF business partners and community members to the show produced BY and FOR students under the direction of Tony Perri of Surf’s Up Studios.  Want to join the fun!?! Look for exciting opportunities starting in February to win prizes by answering trivia questions on Coronado Schools Foundation’s Facebook and Instagram!

With Coronado Unified funded 36th of 42 school districts in San Diego County, donations made during the Telethon fund STEAM opportunities for Coronado public school students that would otherwise not be possible.  “CSF returned a record $1,000,000 to the schools for this year.  Only 20% of our parents have made a donation this school year.  We need that to increase to 50% to maintain this record funding.  EVERY donation matters, whether $25 or $2,500,” commented Patty Cowan, President & CEO.

The event is made possible by generous business partner including Presenting Partner Mullins Orthodontics; Hour Partners -  Hotel del Coronado, Willis Allen Real Estate, Buona Forchetta, and Alan Kinzel, Realtor; Quad Partner - Coronado Smiles Dental; returning Underwriting Partners -  la mer, CMG Mortgage, Spiro’s Greek Cafe, Nicolls Design-Build, The Coronado Times, and Clayton’s Coffee Shop; and a warm welcome to Navy Federal Credit Union, celebrating their new branch office 106 B Avenue.

The Game Show “Family Carnival” in the CHS Quad brought to you by Coronado Smiles Dental opens at 4:30 pm with activities (for a small fee) that are sure to entertain kids of all ages! Activities include an inflatable obstacle course, DJ and karaoke, face painting, Mullins Orthodontics photo booth and carnival games for families to enjoy. Blue Bridge Hospitality is hosting the food court with entrees from El Roy’s and Village Pizzeria with a portion of proceeds going to CSF. New this year – a coffee cart! The CHS senior class will host their ever-popular bake sale to support their end-of year activities. Quad wristbands and food court tickets will be on sale soon at csfkids.org/telethon. Families who have donated $365 or more receive a complimentary Quad wrist band, too.

The performances and phone bank will launch at 5 pm and roll through 9 pm, with each hour featuring a different CUSD campus.  Can't be there in person?  Watch it live on Coronado TV channel 19 (Spectrum) or 99 (AT&T) or catch the live stream on csfskids.org.  Donate $365 or more for a chance to win a Holland's bicycle or $500 or more to win an Emerald City surfboard! All winners will be drawn at the Telethon. Contact Jennifer Stein to volunteer: 619-437-8059, ext. 5 or via e-mail, Jennifer@csfkids.org.
