When we say it 'takes a village' to support the Telethon on March 9th, Village Elementary students Jack and Grace have truly set the stage for supporting our schools through the Coronado Schools Foundation. On two recent Saturdays, they woke up early, set up a 'pop up coffee cart' near their home in the Shores along the walkway, and raised $528. Their donation letter proudly states, "We ran a pop-up coffee stand with donut holes for sale this weekend and decided prior to the sales starting to donate 100% of sales to CSF. We will be back on the Shores Boardwalk on Saturday, February 25th from 8 am to 10 am." Their personal goal is to collectively raise $1,000 and they will be coming live on the Telethon to tell us their grand total. My personal thanks to their supportive parents and to these amazing young people who set an example for all of us that we, too, can make a difference.
To date this school year about 15% of our parents/families have donated. We trust many more will step up and donate for the Telethon on March 9th with chances to win a Holland's Bicycle, Emerald City Surfboard and street-legal Golf Cart from Coronado Golf Carts. This student-produced live TV showed and aired globally on the Internet, has a goal of $206,000 in order for CSF to continue its Site Program Grants for the 2017-18 school year. We hope every family will participate with new options like "text to give" and school to school competition with the winning school awarded a Village Pizzeria party and runner up a Mootime ice cream party. Every donation matters, whether $25 or $2500, and we invite the entire community to this fun family event at the Coronado High School Performing Arts Center and Quad 650 D Avenue, 4:30 to 8:30 pm. For more information and to donate today, visit the CSF Telethon page.
I look forward to your continued support and hope you'll park in the Coronado Shores parking lot on February 24th and visit Jack and Grace's stand. If you'd like to see the impact of donor funds, all are welcome to join us on upcoming behind the scenes tours at Village and Silver Strand elementary schools.
