Joe Mullins, DDS, of Mullins Orthodontics was named Merchant of the Year by the Board of Directors of the Coronado Schools Foundation on Feb. 2. “Dr. Mullins gives generously of his time, treasures and talents to our local schools by significantly supporting our fundraising events and programs over the last several years,” said Patty Cowan, Chief Executive Officer. “With the Mullins, it truly is a family affair as his wife Condra co-chaired the Benefit Auction in 2015 and son Cole made the auction chairs video that year thanks to skills he acquired while enrolled in the KCMS Broadcasting Class at Coronado Middle School. Dr. Joe is also the Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop #801 which both sons Cole and Landon are actively engaged.”

The award was presented by Chairman Jim Grady and CEO Patty Cowan at the Change Maker Cocktail Party held at a private home. Sixty guests donated over $40,000 to support STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) programs in Coronado Unified’s four public schools with costs underwritten by Alan Kinzel of Teles Properties.
