Kids in the Kitchen is one of the many popular courses returning this year for CSF’s Summer Enrichment Program, July 10th to July 28th.

Now it its sixth year, Coronado Schools Foundation looks forward to your child joining the fun and hands-on STEAM-inspired classes, July 10th to July 28th.  The program offers three one-week sessions (July 10th to 14th, July 17th to 21st; and July 24th July 28th) with classes for children entering grades K-12th.  There are also three innovative classes that run over the course of all three weeks –Musical Theatre & Drama (grades 4th to 12th), SAT and ACT Test Prep classes – and Common App for 11th and 12th graders.  This year afternoon class sessions will also be offered with classes held from 8:30 to 11:30 am and 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Coronado High School.  Most are taught by credentialed Coronado Unified teachers with Steve Reiss, a local expert, teaching SAT and ACT classes.

“Our program is unique in that it incorporates academic principles within fun and creative classes that bring children back year after year,’ noted Kathy Shady, Summer Enrichment Principal, a Village Elementary teacher with her administrative credential.  “New this year is an Engineering Class (4th to 6th graders) using Hess trucks and exploring engineering principles as well as a Sports Sampler for those entering 6th to 8th grade and a fun Math Boot Camp for those entering 1st to 3rd grade.” Returning favorites include Amazing Artists, Kids in the Kitchen, Looming/Knitting, Wacky Science, Game, Set, Math & Tennis, Forensics (crime solving chemistry), Navigating Middle School (for incoming 6th graders), It’s Up for Debate, and Guitar.  Little ones entering TK or Kindergarten in the fall will enjoy Jump, Start, Kindergarten, offered each week with fun themes and Raving Robotics returns for another summer.

Students entering grades 7 to 12 can sign up for Learning to Lead where they will not only learn leadership skills but also gain experience in the classroom working with the younger children; each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
